Oregon-born, Alabama-raised.

Walker Sherman’s PNW roots run deep, but it’s his Southern upbringing that shaped his life’s work.

Son of accomplished musician Harry Sherman, Walker’s childhood was steeped in Blues and Southern rock with a heavy pour of folk and jazz, and spiked with the rebellious spirit of grunge— a unique soundscape that gave way to Walker’s own sound, a unique amalgamation that embodies the emotional rawness of Blues and Grunge and the pared-back twang of Southern rock and folk.

For the past ten years, Walker Sherman has been a beloved leader in the Tacoma music scene. He is known for being an incredible mentor, a fierce advocate for artists, a hands-on producer, and a generous benefactor toward the mission of enriching Tacoma’s music community. In his own life, he has championed self-expression and vulnerability through sound, and has been guided by the deep desire to be artistically heard and seen.

He feels an innate sense of responsibility toward the artists around him, so he aims to model for others the struggles and successes that come with living by these values.

For Walker, and undoubtedly many other artists, music represents survival. This belief holds deep significance to Walker, as survival represents simultaneous hardship, triumph, self-exploration and discovery—all things that he has grappled with and celebrated over decades as an artist and community leader. Today, the Walker Sherman Music Group advances its mission guided by Walker’s own experience and his conviction to build a vibrant creative community in Tacoma.

Walker has opened for an eclectic roster of national acts include The Steve Miler Band, The Old 97s, The Refreshments, Michael Gungor, and Charmaine Neville.
